Josette Kahotea - Healer & Mentor
I was born and Raised in Rotorua, New Zealand. I was born into a beautiful family of Mum, Dad and 4 siblings. Whanaungatanga (Extended family) was a huge part of my upbringing and my parents combined taught me that it was ok to be different and that anything was possible if you had commitment.
I realised early on that i was different, in that i didn't fit the expectations of society. I grew up as part of the land, hunting, fishing, diving, exploring and travelling. I left high school to pursue a career in SCUBA Instructing. I then moved to Tauranga where i followed my passion for the Ocean to gain a Bachelor in Marine and Environmental Management and had my first child. The same town where i eventually married my amazingly supportive husband.
I have worked a variety of roles throughout my life from Barista/Waitress, EDI operator in Kiwifruit to Science Research with NIWA, Aquaculture, tropical Fish Quarantine and GIS and Cartography which have all contributed perfectly to where i am now.
In 2012 my husband and i married and decided to cross the ditch, to Brisbane Australia. We quickly discovered that our expectations of snapping up a job and getting paid megabucks were somewhat misled. Eventually we got set up, I started my own Cake business - Sweet Irie and grew our family by two.
Once again, i decided it was time to follow another passion of mine, something i had been through at various times in my life and was very close to my heart, some would say it was a calling, i believe it is and has always been at the very core of my being and my journey to this point has been my apprenticeship, i just hadn't realised yet.
And that is the beginning of my healing Journey. My Journey to IRIE
I am so excited for you to come along for the journey in whatever capacity that may be. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me, my vision is for you all to get a glimpse of what is truly possible when you connect to your inner IRIE.
